We are in an interesting place as a global community. As we live through this time of complete social rearrangement, it’s a bit like an Etch-a-sketch moment. One minute you get the picture. Then, poof, it’s all gone. The time frame was staggeringly quick. The ‘shake it upside down and don’t look back’ has taken place. 

It feels like we are in the birthing process. The most painful part of that process is known as the transition stage.

In the program of Alcoholics Anonymous, it’s often referred to as the hallway. When one door closes, and another one has not yet opened, we lovingly refer to it is as ‘hell in the hallway’. It is here we recognize that fear is not a helpful companion. That worry is unnecessary. That we can access strength from within and hold on to a glimmer of hope.

The question is, who will you be after it passes?

Will you be the same, or will you change?

Will you ever really see the world quite the same?

Nothing is the same after the birth process is complete.

As an international human family, we can consider our situation as a rare opportunity. We can drop the resistance. Let go of our old ways of being. For it is unlikely that things will ever be the same.

We can shift our perspective to see it as part of the birth process. Trust that we will transform into something wonderful and yet, unimaginable.
